Unboxing Klipsch's The Sixes: Elegant Design Meets Heart Thumping Sound

When wireless speaker technology meets legendary Klipsch Heritage design, the result is a stunning achievement in audio performance and versatility. The Sixes are room-filling, wall-thumping, powered monitor speakers that are an essential part of the renowned Heritage Wireless series. These powered speakers quickly and easily connect to a turntable, TV, PC, smartphone or more with a variety of inputs and Bluetooth connectivity options (and no receiver needed!).

Behold: The Sixes from Klipsch.

Klipsch, the Harley-Davidson / Jack Dempsey / F-14s of the speaker world, continues to cut the cord and add to their Heritage Wireless series with The Sixes — a versatile new audio system built around two loudspeaker monitors with built-in amplification. The result? Some pretty cool possibilities, like connecting directly to a turntable, a TV, a computer, your phone or a Bluetooth-enabled device — without any receivers or amps in the middle. This makes The Sixes an ideal, money-saving / space-saving solution for a variety of situations.

Crisp Klipsch punch. (Try saying that three times fast.)

The Sixes do away with speaker wires and outboard amplification via high-efficiency, ultra low-noise amps that are already built-in and calibrated to drive Klipsch’s 1” titanium tweeters and 6.5” long-throw woofers. And what do you get when you build amps to spec for the sole purpose of driving two perfectly mated speakers? Total control of the signal path. And total control of the signal path meant Klipsch engineers could calibrate and tune for totally immersive sound. Boom, done.

Klipsch The Sixes

As for bass? Even though, technically, The Sixes are bookshelf size, they still pack the crisp Klipsch punch we all love. And though everything-Klipsch comes with a great bottom end, you can add more anytime by connecting a subwoofer to The Sixes. (The right speaker has a dedicated digital woofer output in the back.)

On the wireless speaker food chain…

We’ve been putting The Sixes through the paces for a few weeks now, streaming our favorite movies and music. Bottom line: The Sixes can hold their own at loud-party levels (impressive for bookshelf-size speakers) and they don’t lose detail at background levels. Most of all, The Sixes hover far above typical Bluetooth handheld devices, offering better stereo separation and dynamic range than you’d expect in speakers of this size. As good as a full blown Klipsch reference premiere 7.2 or 5.1 surround sound system? No – obviously not. But for the money (no amps or receivers needed) and the convenience (ease of connectivity) and the footprint (no wires, bookshelf size), The Sixes are hard to beat. AND HEY. IT’S KLIPSCH.

The Klipsch Heritage look. At home, in any home.

There’s something timeless about the Klipsch Heritage Series look that works in every decor, and Klipsch brings it once again with The Sixes. Beautifully crafted from authentic real wood veneers and tactile spun copper switches and knobs, you won’t want to hide them. And with a integrated phono preamp, they’re weighted to stay in place no matter how many dancers crowd your floor.

Setup was easy - a few minutes tops? These are the perfect solution for my loft - not only because they look cool, but I don't need a receiver - so I've got them paired with my Pro-Ject turntable and the whole system barely takes up any room - and they sound killer! Brian K
