From Dads. To Dads. For Father's Day 2017.

Dad Knows Best

My dad, Bob Cole - founder and President of World Wide Stereo - really is the hardest person in my life to shop for (though he'll deny it). Why? He has everything. And if he doesn't, he goes out and gets it himself, so I'm always one step behind him in the gift-giving department. Whether it's a portable greenhouse for his veggies, or a very specific pair of sailing shoes... or that time I bought him a pasta extruder he apparently already had. He's tough. And there's absolutely no way that I'm gifting him anything A/V related...

The Dads of World Wide Stereo live, eat, and breathe cool gear. They get to play with this stuff every single day - unwrap it, assemble it, demo it, compare it, and best of all... turn it up. So they already know the good, the great, and the holy cow must-haves. Not only are they experts in Father's Day gift-giving, they're experts in Father's Day gift-receiving. So I asked them: what are the most coveted Father's Day gifts that are sure to give Dad major bragging rights? True to form, many responded with an item they've already gifted themselves (so you know it's good), but a few also responded with their own wishlist of cool products they're eyeing this year. (wink wink to WWS spouses and kids reading).

So, to the Dads out there, the Dads of World Wide Stereo have spoken so you know exactly what to put on your Father's Day Wish List. And if you're the one doing the gifting this year, we've made it easy. Check out these fool-proof suggestions from our Dads.

Ron Rumer

Ron RumerVice President - with WWS since 1979

"My wife and I spend a lot of time outside. We have a rear terrace, fire pit, a dog... And we're recent empty nesters, so we're actually allowed to have some fun now without worrying about embarrassing our kids (Ryan and CJ). The perfect Father's Day gift for me would be an outdoor speaker upgrade to the Sonance Sonarray SR1 Landscape Speaker System. Especially now that it includes that second subwoofer! My wife and I are huge landscaping freaks and this system totally disappears into the plants and shrubs and it's mother nature proof. You can also isolate the sound where you want it so that your neighbors don't get pissed and it's HEOS powered, so I could control it from an app on my phone. All that and I've got the wife's approval which is really all that matters. She loves music and dancing and, if she's happy, I'm happy.

If I were to have a 2nd choice then its upgrading our legacy RUNCO plasma to a new LG OLED 55 inch TV.

3rd choice? A John Deere Gator with all of the options including a heated cab. It's actually my number one choice but we are not a dealer. In the meantime, I'm pretty happy on my John Deere 3121 with my JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker snug in the cupholder - it fits perfectly."

Sonarray SR1 Landscape Speaker Systems are available by special order only.

On Ron's wishlist? The Sonance Sonnaray weatherproof landscape speaker system. Made to look like high-end landscape lighting, so it blends in.

JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker and John Deere

JBL's Charge 3 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker fits perfectly in Ron's John Deere cupholder. Nobody does yard work like Ron Rumer - just check out that edging!

"My gift of choice for Father's day is the LG OLED55B6P 55" Class B6 Series 4K UHD OLED Smart TV. With infinite contrast, no backlighting and dead on color reproduction, this is my pick for the best picture in the world for a 55 inch TV. I only wish I could fit the LG 65 inch OLED 4K TV. My daughter is pretty excited about it too. The fact that we got this perfect shot of Han and Rey on one of our display TVs was no coincidence!"

Klipsch The One

Chad Snedaker

"I'm really liking Klipsch's new Heritage wireless line - The OneThe Three, and the Sixes. I've always been a fan of their Heritage Series - the Klipschorns and the Heresy's - they sound great, but they've got the look and craftsmanship of vintage speakers. So to put that same aesthetic into a tabletop speaker is really cool... the copper dials, the fabric grills. These wireless speakers have all the fantastic sound you would expect from a Klipsch product but with the modern convenience of music streaming built into a great looking retro cabinet. It feels like you're in the 70’s and are somehow streaming the Bee Gees! Super cool."

Adam's Audioquest picks for Father's Day

Adam Domurad

Adam Domurad, Home Technology Expert, with WWS since 2009

"I love my AudioQuest DragonFly Red USB Digital-to-Analog Converter (which was recently upgraded to handle MQA tracks). This may sound like a bizarre gift idea, but, this teeny device is a major powerhouse that makes all the difference for anyone looking to boost the quality of their computer audio. It's literally a DAC and headphone amp disguised as a USB stick - slip it in your pocket and go. It's an easy demo to understand what this does - just try listening to high-res music without the DAC and then with it and trust me, it's night and day and anyone will hear the difference. I use it with my AudioQuest NightHawk Over-Ear Semi-Open Headphones - which are hands down probably one of the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn and they sound great paired with the DragonFly Red DAC. On a side note, my friend Chris uses his Dragonfly with his iPhone to get cleaner audio from his car stereo - so it's pretty versatile."

Sonos Playbase

Michael Kephart

Michael Kephart, Online Support Manager, with WWS since 2016

"My recommendation would be the Sonos PLAYBASE. Only released earlier this year, it was one of my first gifts to myself at WWS. Why I love it? After I put my son to bed (he's three), I like to watch TV or relax with some music. The Playbase fits nicely under our TV stand with its low profile and delivers incredible sound. It streams all my music too via the Sonos app on my phone. And when my son can't sleep, a movie in bed is the perfect medicine - for both of us. Since I got myself the Playbase, I'd like someone to get me a pair of Sonos Play:1 speakers and the SUB to add onto it for a full 3.1 setup. Oh yeah, and for anyone that doesn't know, the Play:1s and the SUB are on sale for Father's DayHint, hint!"

Klipsch AWR-650 outdoor speakers

Mark Jones

Mark Jones, Managing Director, with WWS since 1985

"I love my Klipsch AWR-650 outdoor speakers more than anything.  My favorite part of the summer is the family time we have together - fire pit going at night, string lights on, and music playing. It's always the best. Hands down, my tried and true best pick for Father's Day."

Bose QC-35 Father's Day pick

Dave Sailer

Dave Sailer, Sales & System Designer, with WWS since 1995

"I'd recommend a pair of Bose QC35 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones. I love mine. They sound great, they're incredibly lightweight and comfortable, and they're one of the all-around best noise-cancelling headphones out there. When I'm outside mowing the lawn, I can tune out the mower. And when I'm inside, I can tune out the kids! Can I say that here?”
